4. Transition in Texas

Although this client loved her new home the interior was too serious and she objected to the door and moldings color. The colors in the artistic scheme helped solve both problems. Bronzing the entry foyer ceiling revealed its curved lines and the metallic faux marble niches gave a contemporary statement. As the 30’ long foyer continues, it opens to the back den with a wine nook tucked under the stairs. Bronzing the stair backs inside the nook and the stair encasement crossing the ceiling, then ending off with the same curve as the front foyer ceiling created a further contemporary statement and unified focal points.

The den’s raw concrete fireplace is given a faux limestone finish and the 18 walls niches have their own unique metallic personalities.
A metallic abstract niche at the entrance to the theater is painted as an introduction to the theater color scheme within, with 10 ochre fluted columns accented in vermillion with translucent gold wax finish.

The master bedroom ceiling is a stepped-design given three metallic levels of ochre and champagne, topped with the flat field in platinum. The master bath walls are platinum and installation of new crown moldings are finished in metallics to tie in the pair of large mirrors. The enclosed commode room wall is a site for a mural executed entirely in metallics. “The Creation of Adam” by Michelangelo.
